Does it ever seem like there isn’t much rhyme or reason when it comes to your child’s dietary preferences? We took to Facebook to hear from parents about the weird foods their children avoid at all costs. Here are some of the answers we got!
It’s well known that veggies get a bad rap amongst the toddler community, and it’s about time we take back that old, cliche idea of kids hating vegetables. There are so many great ways to incorporate veggies into your child’s diet, after all! Although, it looks like we might have our work cut out for us with these kiddos:
More carrots for mommy, then! Make sure to snack on these veggies so you set a good example for your young one. This might increase the chances of them actually getting on board with their little orange nemesis. If Mommy eats it, then I should too!
It’s true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Getting your children off to a great, energy-filled start is key, and we know how tricky it can be to liven up the old breakfast routine. Apparently these classic ways to start the day are not up to snuff for these little ones!
Thankfully there are pancake and cereal alternatives! (Although, admittedly we do love a good chocolate chip banana pancake every now and then.) Omelets, smoothies (rich with hidden veggies), and yogurt might appeal to these young ones until they grow out of their distaste for cereal and pancakes.
When reading through our Facebook comments, we noticed a baffling anti-potato trend. Filling, delicious, and typically smothered in butter, sour cream, or ketchup, what’s not to love about potatoes? According to these kids, a lot.
We definitely support the kale salad and fruit choice– talk about self control!
Vegetarian and vegan diets definitely have their own health benefits when properly adhered to– we won’t dispute that. But what caught our attention were the (sometimes strange) details surrounding why these little ones make a point to avoid meat.
