apple, raspberry & vanilla purèe

As much as we love applesauce, we’ve been brainstorming ways to update this go-to snack for babies, children and adults alike. We recently stumbled upon this Apple, Raspberry & Vanilla Bean Purèe created by one of our favorite baby feeding resources, BabyFoodE- not only did the sound of vanilla and raspberry catch our attention, but the bright pink color made us instantly interested! It turns out that his combo is a winner- we’ve adapted it slightly and included the recipe below.

  1. Put the apples and raspberries in the steamer basket.
  2. Pour water into the tank (level 3).
  3. Start the cooking process.
  4. While the apples and raspberries are cooking, cut vanilla bean pod down the center and use a spoon to scrape the seeds out.
  5. When the apples and raspberries are cooked, put them in the blending bowl, reserving the cooking liquid unless using breast milk/stock.
  6. Add the vanilla bean seeds to the blending bowl.
  7. Add some of the cooking liquid to bring the purée to the desired consistency and blend.
