apple, raspberry & vanilla purèe
As much as we love applesauce, we’ve been brainstorming ways to update this go-to snack for babies, children and adults alike. We recently stumbled upon this Apple, Raspberry & Vanilla Bean Purèe created by one of our favorite baby feeding resources, BabyFoodE- not only did the sound of vanilla and raspberry catch our attention, but the bright pink color made us instantly interested! It turns out that his combo is a winner- we’ve adapted it slightly and included the recipe below.

As much as we love applesauce, we've been brainstorming ways to update this go-to snack for babies, children and adults alike. We recently stumbled upon this Apple, Raspberry & Vanilla Bean Purèe created by one of our favorite baby feeding resources, BabyFoodE- not only did the sound of vanilla and raspberry catch our attention, but the bright pink color made us instantly interested! It turns out that his combo is a winner- we've adapted it slightly and included the recipe below.
Ingredients
- 2 cups apples cubed
- 1 cup raspberries fresh or frozen
- 1 vanilla bean pod
- 1/3 cup water, breast milk or stock
Instructions
- Put the apples and raspberries in the steamer basket.
- Pour water into the tank (level 3).
- Start the cooking process.
- While the apples and raspberries are cooking, cut vanilla bean pod down the center and use a spoon to scrape the seeds out.
- When the apples and raspberries are cooked, put them in the blending bowl, reserving the cooking liquid unless using breast milk/stock.
- Add the vanilla bean seeds to the blending bowl.
- Add some of the cooking liquid to bring the purée to the desired consistency and blend.
